The up-front interaction with Four Seasons to discuss and plan for our Grand Canyon hiking trip was simple. Very easy communications.
My daughter and I experienced the Grand Canyon at its best with our guide, Jeremy. We selected the 5-day Hermit Loop tour, which gave us huge vistas of the Grand Canyon from the Tonto level of the canyon. We descended to the Colorado River on two days, and on one night camped in our tent next to the river (see photo).
Jeremy did a great job taking care of us in camp, and setting a sustainable pace when we were on the trail. He was personable and very knowledgeable about the sights we enjoyed. He has an easygoing personality, and was very attuned to the interests of his guests (the two of us, and a college student). One of the most memorable experiences was the dinner he prepared at Plateau Point, about 1,300 feet above the river. Two California condors swept past us for a few minutes before the meal, and after dinner we hung around at the point to witness the full moon rising over the inner canyon. Spectacular!
As we were finishing dinner at a remote camp site on another day, we witnessed 6 big horn sheep bucking into each other for about 15 minutes. The weather was perfect (no guarantees from the company), and the food was a stand out. I could not imagine a better back-country experience in the Grand Canyon.
